Pianist Nadia Shpachenko Presents Six West Coast Premieres at Caltech
January 25, 2016, Pasadena, Calif. – On February 7, 2016 at 3:30 pm in Dabney Lounge at Caltech, Grammy® nominated pianist Nadia Shpachenko will present a program of new and recent works, including 6 West Coast Premieres. The recital, titled Quotations and Homages, will feature newly-written works inspired by a variety of earlier composers and pieces, from Mozart to Brahms to Messiaen to Carter to Gubaidulina to The Velvet Underground. In a program both serious and lighthearted, older works will be brought to new light through piano, electronics and multimedia by contemporary composers Missy Mazzoli, Daniel Felsenfeld, Tom Flaherty, Vera Ivanova, Michael Vincent Waller, Peter Yates, Matthew Elgart, Adam Borecki, and Nick Norton.
Admission is free and no tickets are required. Dabney Lounge is located in the center of the campus.
