This piano recital will feature the world premiere of the new piece Arfaria (just finished this week) by Ukrainian composer Zoltan Almashi, pieces about Ukraine, dances including tangos, waltzes, and rags, and pieces about soccer. Composers include Myroslav Skoryk, Eloisa D'Herbil de Silva, Astor Piazzolla, Yuri Ishchenko, Gregory Brown, Scott Joplin, Scott Wheeler, Evgeni Orkin, Paul Chihara, Lewis Spratlan, Zoltan Almashi, Christopher Cerrone, Harold Meltzer, and Tom Flaherty.

GRAMMY® Award-winning pianist Nadia Shpachenko's performance showcases a hugely dramatic range delivered with remarkably expressive precision. Nadia curates a program featuring transformative dances, including rags and tangos, as well as pieces connected to the war in Ukraine. She will perform solo piano works by Scott Joplin, Dana Kaufman (a world premiere), Evgeni Orkin (a world premiere), Myroslav Skoryk, and Lewis Spratlan, a duet by Astor Piazzolla (3 Tangos), performed with SBSO conductor Anthony Parnther on bassoon, and a stunning new chamber work Invasion by Pulitzer-Prize winning composer Lewis Spratlan, for solo piano and SBSO's principal players, conducted by Anthony Parnther.
